Most colleges and universities in Worcester County have banned the use and storage of hoverboards, the popular hands-free, self-balancing electronic scooters sweeping the country, because they pose a fire hazard. Anna Maria College, Assumption College, Becker College, Fitchburg State University, the College of the Holy Cross, Mount Wachusett Community College, Nichols College, Worcester State University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University are among those where students are not allowed to use or store hoverboards on campus.
